Avery’s Desire

Avery is just 9-years-old, but already he has a heart to help the homeless.  After doing some research, he decided to help the Denver Rescue Mission (DRM).  Avery went through his toys to see what he could give away and asked those at Cross of Christ to do the same.  Together they collected items like birthday wrapping paper, dish soap, diapers, even toys.  But that’s not all.

As a church we also collected 40 Hope Totes filled with items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. for those in need.  And on Wednesday, April 21, 20 volunteers from Cross of Christ will be helping out at the DRM by preparing and serving dinner.  It’s really been a team effort.  I love seeing every one work together as they help people of all ages intersect life and the love of Jesus.  And what a great reminder that Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28) – which is what He invites us to do as well!
