What We Believe
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 NLT
What is Cross of Christ all about? Simple. In a word we’re all about Jesus – the Way, the Truth, and the Life!
“Jesus said, ‘I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.’” John 14:6 NLT
Who is Jesus Christ? Simple. Jesus is God’s one and only Son, sent by His Father in heaven to come to earth for one purpose – to die on a cross for the sins of the entire world. He is life itself.
“For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NLT
Does everyone really need to believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior? In a word, yes! The Bible tells us that all people have sinned and are in need of God’s forgiveness. The only assurance of eternal life in Heaven is by being sorry for your sins and believing by faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you.
“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.” Romans 3:22-24 NLT
How are we saved? Simple. Salvation is a gift from God. We aren’t saved because of who we are or what we’ve done. Rather, we are saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
“God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT
Jesus not only came to save us from our sin, He came to show us how to live. According to Jesus, life in its simplicity is about real love, that is, loving God with all of our heart, soul, and mind; and loving others as ourselves.
“God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him. This is real love – not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.” 1 John 4:9-11 NLT
